12:00 pm: Summer Bank Holiday
12:00 pm to3:00 pm
We run the pub because we want a good pub in our community. But it’s really nice to be noticed and appreciated by others.
In February 2016 Bentley Community Pub Ltd was presented with the Working Together Award from Suffolk Community Foundation, in recognition of achieving “outstanding outcomes through collaboration and partnership working”. The award includes a cheque for £5,000, which will be allocated towards our ongoing refurbishment of the building.
In November 2015, Age UK Suffolk presented the pub with their Usherwood Award, Inspiring Age 2015, in recognition of the significant role older people have played at the very heart of our journey to restore The Case to its former glory. More details on this award in our news posting.
In July 2015, our pub chairman at the time, David Westley was awarded a British Citizen Award for services to the community. David had worked on the pub project for two years, including taking a long period of leave from his regular job. David was presented his award by Baroness Wilcox, at the Palace of Westminster, London.
More details on this award, and the local TV coverage in our news posting.
In July 2014, the pub was awarded the Plunkett Foundation UK Rural Community Ownership Award for Better Cooperation. The award recognises our community engagement; “Bentley Community Pub has won this award as they have shown that they are dedicated to working co-operatively.”
The Plunkett Foundation supports rural community ventures and cooperatives. They gave invaluable advice during our community purchase, giving us the chance to raise funds and then buy the pub.
