8:00 pm: Games Night
8:00 pm to10:00 pm
The Case would not be open today without volunteers and indeed since the pandemic struck in 2020, it’s been entirely operated by volunteers.
Volunteers take part because it’s enjoyable; working with others and creating a unique community asset.
Volunteers work in the bar, maintain the garden, paint the pub, clean parts of the building, produce posters and other printed materials, maintain this web site, update social media and lots and lots of other tasks.
Bar volunteers are a major asset; our customers say they like to meet a variety of bar volunteers. We run training sessions on working behind the bar, and you only have to do what you feel comfortable with – if you can only offer a couple of hours that’s great. Most volunteer bar shifts are 2 hours long, but some are 90 mins and the longest are 2 hours 15 mins. You will usually work alongside another volunteer.
The regular garden maintenance session is Wednesday mornings. Since the major pub refurbishment has been completed, the decorating team is no longer engaged each week. We’ll still need the DIY volunteers as painting the pub can be like the Forth Bridge!
The pub’s management committee are all volunteers, so if you can help with that side, please put yourself forward (please note that under our Society’s rules, only shareholders are eligible to serve on the committee).
Volunteers are key to the success of the pub. They are consulted on changes, there are regular volunteer meetings where views can be shared, new ideas discussed, and most importantly, a good time is had by all.
We’ve been talking to some of our wonderful volunteers, to find out about the stories behind the work they do for the pub. You can read them here – the how, what, why in their own words:
