The Case will be holding a Beer Festival on 3rd – 6th May when we will be offering a selection of over 20 different real ales across the Bank Holiday weekend.
Opening times for the weekend will be as follows:
Day | Date | Opening Times |
Friday | 3rd May | 4:00pm – 11:00pm |
Saturday | 4th May | 12 noon – 11:00pm |
Sunday | 5th May | 12 noon – 10:00pm |
Monday | 6th May | 12 noon – 6:00pm |
Tasting notes will be provided and there will be an opportunity for you to vote for your favourite beer of the weekend.The emphasis will be on brewers local to the region but we will be doing our best to include a number of ales that we don’t normally offer.
As well as running the beer festival, the pub will be open for normal business as well, but there will be a fast track ordering system if you just want to buy ale. Buy a Beer Voucher card when you first enter the pub for £12 (which will be marked out as a grid of 120 x 10 pence tokens) and a bar volunteer will cross off the value of each glass of ale as you order it. The cards can also be used to purchase bar snacks and savouries.
The Beer Voucher cards can be used over multiple opening times and unused tokens can be redeemed whenever you decide that enough is enough. Alternatively you can simply drop your card into our charity collection box, and the Case will donate any unspent value to our charity of the year. You can of course buy additional cards as you need them.
You will also be able to vote for your favourite beer of the festival – see the back of your Beer Voucher. Results will be published on this website once they’ve been collated.
To support the Beer Festival, a new street food vendor, Wokn’Roll will be joining us on the Saturday evening. They will be selling their tasty, authentic Chinese noodle cuisine from their kiosk in the car park, 4pm to 8pm. On Monday afternoon, we welcome Fully Loaded, the latest venture by a well known visitor to Bentley – Charlie the Fish and Chip man, who will be serving burgers and baked potatoes from his van in the pub car park from 12 – 3pm.
UPDATE 8/5/2024: The Beer Festival has closed and the votes for favourite beer of the festival have now been counted. The winner was Flaxen by a short head from four other contenders. The details are as follows:
Place | Brewery | Beer | Style | ABV |
---|---|---|---|---|
1st | Bishop Nick | Flaxen | Blonde | 4.2% |
2nd= | Colchester | Brinsop | Dark Bitter | 4.3% |
2nd= | Green Jack | Lurcher | Stout | 4.8% |
2nd= | Mighty Oak | Little Red Rocket | Ruby | 3.8% |
2nd= | Wharf | Pucks Folly | Golden | 4.2% |
So congratulations to Bishop Nick for brewing the most popular beer. But given the variety of styles demonstrated by the top five and the fact that all the beers that were available for more than the very final few hours of the festival (a further 9 beers) attracted one or more votes, this all goes to show that different people enjoy very different styles of beer. Thanks to everyone who submitted a vote.
