Checkout our new Current Ales page that provides an online version of our Beer Menu indicating what real ales are currently on tap and those that will be coming shortly.
As we’ve now entered the festive season, most of our new beers will be Christmas themed: starting with Saint Nick’s from Lacons, soon to be followed by Mōdraniht and No Man’s Land from Colchester Brewery. But there will be plenty more to come, so keep an eye on our Current Ales page to see what’s available. For your convenience, this page is linked into our menu system as an entry under Food and Drink.
Please note that our team of volunteers will make every effort to keep this page up to date, but we cannot guarantee that every time a barrel is changed we will be able to change the image immediately. So please note the date shown on the Current Ales page.
By the way, if you’re wondering about the origins of the Christmas ale names, Mōdraniht is Old English for “Night of the Mothers” and was an event held at what is now Christmas Eve by Anglo-Saxon pagans as a celebration of motherhood while No Man’s Land commemorates the football match played during the brief ceasefire of Word War I on Christmas Day 1914. We’ll leave you to work out the relevance of Saint Nick.
