12:00 pm: Easter Monday
12:00 pm to3:00 pm
Following on from our initial announcement of our intention to publish a series of Walks From The Case, we are pleased to now add the second instalment: Walk 2: Capel St Mary.
This walk differs considerably from the Walk 2 contained in the main source material for this project – Michael Anderton’s booklet “Six country walks from the Case is Altered Public House Bentley, Suffolk” – as the original walk to Capel included a surface crossing of the A12. We felt this was simply too unsafe to consider with modern levels of traffic on the A12 so the new route uses the underpass on both the outward and return legs of the walk.
Overall the walk is approximately 6 miles and is a mixture of off-road and on-road sections. The route to the underpass is entirely along country footpaths. Once at the underpass, the walk is essentially a loop around the outskirts of Capel, so you could cut it short to return early at various points. As a guide, the route is 1.5 miles to the roundabout next to the underpass (with seating in the bus stop there should you need a breather) and it’s a further quarter of a mile to the White Horse pub.
Directions for all the walks are linked under our Maps and Walks menu item (don’t overlook the useful information on the Introduction page) or click here for Walk 2. Enjoy!
